Pictures from Skálakot

Jóhanna and Guðmundur bought the farm Skálakot in the year 1985 from Guðmundur grandparents Bjarni and Kata. The farm is located in the beautiful area of Eyjafjöll in the South part of Iceland. Surrounded by mountains, waterfalls, and glaciers as well as green fields and black sand beach. Skálakot owns around 150 horses and 300 sheep.

Skálakot has been successful in horse breeding. Many people know the stallion Klængur from Skálakot and Skýr from Skálakot. Every year we get around 10 foals only from top breeding lines.

Our Manor hotel, as well as the farm and our beautiful surrounding, are a good setup for a beautiful picture. Every season has its charm with a different colour in nature and a different kind of light. With a mild and humid climate all year around. We believe that Skálakot is a good place to stay if people like to relax and enjoy the best of South Iceland. It is a central point for the region and close to many of the sights people like to visit in South Iceland.
